“The West wind is a warm wind… full of birds’ cries.”
Now why did I go and say that for?
Well, anything from the East is always cold this time of year as it comes from Siberia. A wind with North in it too, is a bitch! Even colder! I am waiting now for the bliss of the wind backing to the South West, bringing the divine warmth to break up the eternal chill of this beautiful city.
Maybe you are still a little puzzled as to why I have posted this…
As a sailor, living this close to the elements is a crucial factor and almost central to everything one does. As the moon governs the tides, so too the wind has a vital affect on morale, and the art of sailing. An Easterly is no good for any of these while trying to sail any direction East of North as it opposes progress.
This has been a long, tough winter and the return of a South Westerly will be a wonderful moment to celebrate.
